Learning & Fun
Teaching Philosophy
We know that children learn best by "doing". Therefore, the activities the children participate in are hands-on and encourage participation, but most of all fun, because we believe learning is an exciting experience. Monthly outings will occur to places such as the St Louis Zoo, Science Center or to a park to feed the ducks to expose the children to new and exciting experiences. We also will visit the local playground regularly for exercise and large motor skill development. Each child will be given the opportunity to explore, learn and grow.

Infant/Young Toddler
Infants and toddlers learn through play by utilizing flash cards, books, numbers, shapes, colors, the alphabet, stacking blocks, puppets, and age-appropriate toys. By constantly listening, talking, describing objects and their meanings, we help to expand your child's ever growing vocabulary. Throughout each day we practice reaching, grasping, rolling, sitting, crawling, standing, walking, climbing, throwing, catching, cooing, talking..whichever developmental stage your child happens to be in.
Older Toddler/Preschooler
For children ages 2-5, we offer a structured preschool curriculum provided to us by Mother Goose Time (a professionally planned preschool curriculum designed to be used in family childcare homes and centers.) This curriculum fulfills the Head Start Domain Elements, Standards, and Indicator Guidelines. Numbers, letters, shapes and colors are introduced monthly with their use integrated throughout the activities. In addition to this academic curriculum, we supplement with enriching activities ranging from art and craft projects to storytelling, games, and exercises through various monthly themes. We participate in Circle Time each day, where we discuss the day's activities, calendar, and weather followed by story/song time. As children learn best when they are actively involved, they will be encouraged to listen, share, take turns, cooperate, express themselves, and give/receive feedback. Your child will leave us well prepared for kindergarten.
